In 2021, the Carinthian Summer will commemorate its long-time chairman and sponsor, the composer, organist, choir director and cultural manager Nikolaus Fheodoroff with a series of events and concerts on the occasion of his 90th birthday and the tenth anniversary of his death. Since 2013, the state of Carinthia has been donating a composition prize dedicated to Nikolaus Fheodoroff every two years. In 2020 the jury decided on two very different works for the trio line-up clarinet, cello and piano: Otto Wanke deals with the spectral analysis of the cello sound in his work Metallic spaces and transfers the phenomenon of energetic charging of deconstructed forms, known from abstract painting, into music. Maxim Seloujanov prefaces his trio with wisdom from the book Kohelet: there is nothing new under the sun. This of course promises more than just an ironic witticism. The trio miniatures À trois by Nikolaus Fheodoroff, dedicated to the Carinthian Summer 2007, will be at the center of the evening. Finally, the ethereally delicate work by the much-acclaimed Clara Iannotta adds 12 music boxes to the classic trio line-up.
