+ News: Nouvelles Aventures & movie highlight at Odeon theatre

PHACE presents the spring program: within the Nouvelles Aventures cycle at the Wiener Konzerthaus, we will be performing two world premieres by Joanna Wozny and Dragomir Yossifov as well as works by Luigi Nono, Rebecca Saunders and Dieter Ammann on Tuesday, March 15th.

Right afterwards, the same program will be performed at the March Music Days Festival in Rousse, Bulgaria on March20th and on
Sunday, April 10th, we are presenting a unique materpiece at the Odeon theatre in Vienna: the movie classic The Doll by film director Ernst Lubitsch will be projected with live music by Martin Smolka. Reserve your tickets now!

+ News: Joanna Wozny is young composer in residence 2010/11 with PHACE

With Joanna Wozny we are launching our innovative model “young composers in residence”, giving young Austrian and international composers the possibility to work with us continuously over a longer period of time and explore new and more intense ways of performing. On May 28th, PHACE is going to premiere Prolepsis and perform Surfacing (2008) by Joanna Wozny at the ”May ^28th 2010 festival for Contemporary and Electronic Music.

Joanna Wozny, born in Zabrze/Poland in 1973, studied compositon with Gerd Kühr and Beat Furrer at the Kunstuniversität Graz and philosophy. Her compositions up to now cover the entire spectrum of instrumental music and range from electronic music and solo pieces to orchestra music. Wozny has been honoured with several awards and grants and her music has been performed by ensembles like Klangforum, RSO Vienna, Ensemble Collage and at prestigious festivals.

+ News: Surrealist masterpiece – eccentric, weird, exuberant, sexually vulgar: The Fiery Angel

From April 21st on, the Odeon theatre is featuring Sergei Prokofiev´s opera “The Fiery Angel”, orchestrated by Wolfgang Suppan. A story verging on the borders of illusion and reality, love and obsession.
A powerful production directed by Philipp Harnoncourt featuring PHACE | CONTEMPORARY MUSIC, conducted by Marino Formenti, stage design by Ulrike Kaufmann and Erwin Piplits.

+ News: Relaunch ensemble on_line as PHACE | CONTEMPORARY MUSIC

2010 brings a lot of interesting new concerts with our ensemble. The most important news: ensemble on_line becomes PHACE | CONTEMPORARY MUSIC.

We celebrate this relaunch with an fascinating music-theatrical evening and an opening party at the Odeon in Vienna on February 20th. We invite you all to listen together with us to great new music and to celebrate with us and OdeonMusik later.

+ News: Radioportrait (Ö1) Christian Utz, 19.02.2010, 23h Ö1 2010,

In July 2009, we were invited to Salihara, Jakarta (Salihara Festival). Amongst other compositions, we presented two works by the austrian composer Christian Utz . Fragmentation for baritone, piano and glass percussions as well as Telinga Mulut for baritone, four instruments and narrator (UA). Both works are now presented as part of a Radioportrait on Ö1 about Christian Utz.

Since February 19th, our new website is online. The new corporate identity (webdesign and logo) was developed by kim+heep. The programming of the website was done by gelberTraktor. We thank you very much for the wonderful cooperation.
